Description
I had the fortunate opportunity to be in Lisbon, Portugal for a week leading up to a Film Festival where I was giving Master Classes in Music and Sound for Film and serving on the jury. I was lucky enough to stay in the center of the city – Barrio Alto — and have easy access to most of Lisbon. When I wasn’t a tourist, I stealthily wandered about recording various scenes. One notable scene was not so stealthy. I was taking a break siting at a park table with my gear in my back pack with microphones sticking out. 4 men came up to the table and proceeded to laying out a big piece cardboard with shapes on it and began slamming down hands and cards playing some strange (to me) card game while paying me no never mind. This is one of my favorite recordings, though, it may be of little use to sound editors. I was able to capture some real texture!
Featured in this collection are parks and cafe’s, streets, open bars and restaurants. Tons of walla, including bar patrons wafting out onto the streets at all hours. There is also some great city traffic and a long stretch of the complex intersection at Rato where at least 7 streets crossed over near me in the center. I also captured some nice side streets. Then there is a sequence of Metro Train station and platform recordings. One of the most useful recordings are those of the interior of a passenger train from Lisbon to Cascais.
