New Houseboat Library!

We went to Stillwater, MN to record a houseboat on the waters of the St. Croix river, and came out with a great collection of recordings of maneuvering, accelerating, decelerating, and floating at rest. With shotgun mics affixed to the bow and sides, a quad array inside the cabin or up on the roof, and handheld recorders placed in strategic locations, there’s no shortage of perspectives to choose from.  The houseboat is bigger and heavier than a speedboat, so this could be useful for any larger, slower watercraft.  As we usually do, we also included a handful of odds and ends like the horn blasting, doors and cabinets opening and closing, and we also grabbed some quick recordings of a pontoon boat that we happened to have access to.  All in all, a pretty productive day.

Similar to the Sailboat library, we’re releasing this library in a choice of Poly Wav or Multiwav formats, so that people can choose whether they want one big (up to 10 channel!) WAV file, or separate individual mono, stereo, and quad files.

Check it out!
