One of our favorite places to record at is a grassland prairie in Southern Minnesota. This time, we wanted to get the prairie in early spring, on a day before all the grasshoppers and crickets arrive. What we ended up getting were two VERY windy days, with wind gusts of 20-40 MPH. We are releasing this windy library as a Companion Pack to our previously released “Grassland Prairies“.
In “A Prairie Wind Companion“, you can hear the tall grass violently whip and swish against a sparse background, along with some light wind with gentle gusts. With such a sparse background, the varying winds are really the hero here.
Occasionally, a bird will chime in, as well as a special moment of two hawks tussling and diving in the whipping wind, their wings cutting the air right above the microphones and their companion birds cheering them on! (You can also hear it at the end of the demo!)
All sounds captured in 24/96 double-ORTF QUAD!
All files are optimized for Soundminer integration, with comprehensive metadata embedded.
